We understand that Ukrainians are also fighting for us, for Poles, because we are next - Polish journalist
Slawomir Sierakowski, a Polish journalist, has said that fundraising for Ukraine in Poland is not only about Bayraktars, it is about uniting people and raising awareness of what is happening in Ukraine and what people there need.
He shared his opinion with Espreso.
Slawomir Sierakowski started a campaign in Poland to collect funds for Bayraktar for Ukraine about a month ago and is currently waiting for an order from the manufacturer.
"We have two scenarios regarding the purchased Bayraktar. Perhaps there will be a precedent that was in Lithuania, and then in Ukraine, so we are waiting for a decision from the manufacturer's company to provide us with Bayraktar for free and, accordingly, all the funds we have collected we will be able to transfer as humanitarian aid to Ukraine. And the second scenario - we will find a suitable institution in Ukraine and sign an agreement according to which we will transfer all the funds and then this institution will confirm to us that the funds have been transferred to Bayraktar. Therefore, we are considering all options," the journalist explained.
Slawomir Sierakowski confirmed that about 200,000 Poles took part in the fund-raising for Bayraktar for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
"The idea of fundraising was based not only on Bayraktars, we sought to unite people, motivate them, draw their attention to the needs and events that are happening in Ukraine. So that they don't think about how to spend their vacations and don't get used to war, they should be focused on the events that are happening in Ukraine. Of course, we understand that Ukrainians are also fighting for us, for the Poles, because we are next. And we should unite around this understanding. We hope that we give impetus to other similar projects. I am convinced that such measures will continue," noted Sierakowski.
