US is likely to stop selling MQ-1C Gray Eagle drones to Ukraine for fear Russia can get them - Reuters
US may suspend sale of Gray Eagle drones to Ukraine due to US authorities' fear that drones could fall into Russia's hands.
Reuters shared the news.
According to two sources familiar with the matter, the Joe Biden administration's plan to sell Ukraine four large MQ-1C Gray Eagle combat drones, which can be armed with Hellfire missiles, has been suspended.
The operation to sell secret surveillance equipment was rejected on the recommendation of the Pentagon's Office of Defense Technology Security, which has a task to protect expensive technology. The MQ-1C Gray Eagle UAV model is one of them.
The objection to the export of combat drones arose out of fears that radar and surveillance equipment could pose a threat to the security of the US if it fell into the hands of the Russian military. The decision on a potential agreement with Ukraine is currently being considered by the Pentagon.
