US intelligence assesses ability of Ukraine’s Armed Forces to attack and liberate Kherson and eastern territories
The US intelligence estimates that the Armed Forces of Ukraine can achieve even greater success in liberating the occupied territories in the next six weeks
This is reported by The New York Times.
American officials believe that in six weeks both sides will be forced to slow down the fighting to regroup due to worsening weather conditions.
Intelligence says that it is unlikely that the Russian army will suffer massive defeats, as it had in the past few weeks, but some units may "break" due to the success of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which will allow the Ukrainian military to continue its advance.
American officials do not rule out the possibility that Ukraine will retake Kherson soon. They believe that the Ukrainian Armed Forces can push the occupying forces past the Dnipro river, thereby returning most of the city to Ukrainian control.
Analysts say that due to Ukraine's success at the front, it has the opportunity to "choose" which areas to focus its military potential on. US officials believe that Ukraine should make the most of this opportunity, but not overload the supply lines, so as not to give the Russian army an advantage.
