UN Food Organization office will be created in Ukraine - Ministry of Economy
The UN Food Organization plans to raise USD 180.4 million to help Ukraine

On September 27, the Government decided to sign an Agreement with the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations - FAO - on the creation of a Project Office in Ukraine and the provision of technical and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine. Yuliya Svyridenko, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine, is authorized to sign this agreement.
"Ukraine has long and fruitfully cooperated with FAO - an organization whose mission is to fight hunger around the world - said Yulia Svyridenko. - However, due to the war unleashed by Russia, we already need help. FAO provides it, in particular, by implementing by the governments of the partner countries of the Ukrainian agricultural support program. And she continued: "The adoption of the Agreement and the creation of an FAO office in Ukraine will allow us to raise cooperation to a much higher level. This also applies to programs to support agricultural producers and provide humanitarian aid to Ukrainians who find themselves in difficult life circumstances. We expect closer coordination in matters of grain export. Ukraine will continue to help countries where the issue of food is acute In the future, cooperation will contribute to the growth of Ukrainian exports and the achievement of our goal - the creation of an export-oriented economy with high added value."
It is emphasized that since the beginning of the large-scale invasion of Russia, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations has updated the Quick Response Plan in Ukraine to help small Ukrainian farmers and medium producers. As of mid-August, with funds allocated by countries and non-governmental organizations, FAO provided emergency agricultural aid (seed material, multi-purpose cash aid) to 80,000 people in 13 regions of Ukraine.
"With the financial support of, in particular, Japan, Canada and the Minderoo Foundation, _ it says on the website of the Ministry of Economy, - FAO, together with the Government of Ukraine, implements the Strategy on Support for Grain Storage, the purpose of which is to help farmers with temporary means for storing crops and support at a high level of export potential of Ukraine. The strategy provides for supplying Ukrainian farmers with sleeves for storing grain, equipment for loading and unloading, as well as modular grain warehouses."
In general, FAO plans to attract 180.4 million dollars for the implementation of the Rapid Response Plan in Ukraine and the Strategy for supporting grain storage.
The International Monetary Fund allocated $1.4 billion in additional support to Ukraine.
