Ukrainian military to master Patriot system at Fort Sill, training starts next week - CNN
The Ukrainian Armed Forces will begin to master the US Patriot air defence missile system next week at Fort Sill in Oklahoma
This is reported by CNN with reference to the Pentagon.
The training program for the Ukrainian military will be held at Fort Sill in Oklahoma, where the United States conducts its own training on the operation and maintenance of an advanced air defense system.
"Fort Sill is one of the Army’s four basic training locations and home to the service’s field artillery school, which has been training service members for more than a century," the newspaper writes.
It is reported that the training of Ukrainians will last several months.
"I’m not going to be able to give you a specific timeframe for the completion of the training," said Laura Cooper, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Russian, Ukrainian and Eurasian Affairs.
Earlier Pentagon spokesman General Pat Ryder said that the United States is considering a variety of options for Patriot missile training "to include potential training in the United States, overseas or a combination of both.”
- The first Patriot battery was handed over to Ukraine in late December.
- On January 5, Germany joined the initiative and announced the transfer of another Patriot battery to Kyiv.
- On January 7, the Pentagon said that the training of the Ukrainian military on the Patriot missile system will begin in late January and will last for several months.
