Ukrainian intelligence shares information on location, strategic goals of army's coming counteroffensive
Vadym Skibitskyi, deputy head of Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate, says that Ukrainian defenders will be ready to launch a counteroffensive in spring, and one of its strategic goals is to cut off Russia from Crimea
Vadym Skibitskyi said this in an interview with German journalists, Deutsche Welle reports.
“I think we will be ready to launch a counteroffensive in the spring,” the deputy head of the Main Intelligence Directorate said, adding that the exact moment depends on a number of factors, including the supply of Western weapons.
He clarified that one of the strategic goals would be an attempt to drive a wedge into the Russian front in the south between Crimea and the Russian mainland.
According to him, Ukraine will strike at weapons depots in Russia, particularly in the Belgorod region.
“Attacks on Ukraine are launched from there. This poses a threat, for example, to Kharkiv,” said Skibitskyi.
The goal of the announced counteroffensive is to liberate all the occupied Ukrainian territories, including Crimea. “We will stop only when we restore the country to the borders of 1991,” he emphasized.
