Ukrainian forces defend themselves south of Bakhmut, Russian troops constantly advance - Yaroslav Lysenko
Yaroslav Lysenko, a fighter with the Freedom Battalion, says that the Russian forces haven't entered Bakhmut yet. They have come 3-5 km closer in some areas, but this is not critical
He said this on Espreso TV.
“Both from the north and from the south, the Russian forces are advancing, and they are having success somewhere. For example, in our direction, in the south, where Bakhmut is more than 15 km away, the situation is not very good, but it is not critical either. We are not losing anything there, except that we have advanced to the railway, so that it would be easier to defend. There is a lot of enemy manpower, which is attacking continuously,” the Freedom Battalion fighter said.
Yaroslav Lysenko said he never thought that the situations of World War II would be repeated, when the German machine gunners, describing the battles in their memoirs, noted that they cried and lost their minds, because they did not understand why naked, barefoot and unarmed soldiers were going against their machine guns. And we have almost the same situation.
“According to my data, the Russians haven't entered Bakhmut. Perhaps they have come 3-5 km closer in some areas, but this is not essential, based on my experience since 2014. In addition, Ukrainian artillery is now working powerfully. About a week ago, our soldiers gave the Russians a hard time. The only thing that worries us is the mortar fire and the onslaught of enemy manpower. They occupy all possible positions, dig in well, because they are forced to do so. The occupiers have already faced not only repression, but also executions: disobedience - execution, failure to attack - execution,” he noted.
