Russian propaganda pushes myth of Transnistria's 'blockade' to discredit Ukraine, Moldova
Russian propaganda falsely claims Moldova and Ukraine imposed a 'blockade' on Transnistria to discredit them, despite no real crisis
Oleksandr Kovalenko, a Ukrainian military and political observer with the Information Resistance group, discussed the issue on his Telegram channel.
According to the analyst, it's a form of cargo cult and while reasonable people would laugh at this, those influenced by Russian propaganda are indifferent to the truth.
Despite the mild weather in the so-called "Transnistrian Moldavian Republic" since the gas supplies stopped, which couldn't lead to fatal freezing, any death during this period is being blamed on Moldova and Ukraine, with a key focus on the word "blockade."
“It seems that the FSB’s creative minds, providing guidance to the Transnistrian population, have decided to draw a parallel between the decaying Soviet appendage of Transnistria and the 80th anniversary of the victory and the recent 81st anniversary of the liberation of Saint Petersburg. And who’s blamed for the cold and blockade in the "Transnistrian Moldavian Republic"? Naturally, the “fascist” Maya Sandu and Volodymyr Zelenskyy!” Kovalenko writes.
Russia will use the situation in Transnistria to discredit Moldova and Ukraine, but the real question is - who in Europe will actually support this absurd narrative?
“How can we not recall that since 2014, Russian "experts" and propagandists have annually predicted Ukraine would freeze in winter - yet it’s Russians who keep freezing, as even Solovyov's guests like Gurulev admit on air?” Oleksandr Kovalenko concludes.
