Ukrainian diplomat names options for real security guarantees for Ukraine, including missile program
Ukraine can receive only three real security guarantees - NATO membership, a defense agreement with a nuclear power and a missile program
Ukrainian diplomat Valeriy Chaly shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"I don't want us to end up with nothing. If we do not immediately receive the NATO umbrella and do not have any deterrent weapons. Within a few years, when we de-occupy the territory, we need to put the question to rest - either we are part of collective security (and Russia will not dare to take any steps against the whole of NATO), or if this is not realistic, then we need either a bilateral agreement with a nuclear power or we will have to raise all our capabilities to make missiles that reach Moscow and decision-making centers," he said.
The diplomat believes that at the first stage, these should be missiles with a range of up to 1,000 km and there should be thousands of them, and then up to 5,500 km.
"We can be reassured by so-called security guarantees, but none of them are being prepared for the NATO summit. It is not being considered either now or in the future. If we don't say so in the middle of the negotiations, either show us what will deter Russia and how it is being resolved. If not, we will focus all our efforts and capabilities on the production of missile launch vehicles, and time will tell," Chaly summarized.
