Ukrainian defenders complete training on Leopard tanks in Germany

ZDF reports that the course lasted several weeks. On Monday, March 13, the Ukrainian military opened live firing at the Bergen military training ground in Lower Saxony.

“The training allowed the Ukrainian military to fire with a modern weapon system,” Brigadier General Björn Schulz said.

• On January 25, Germany approved the supply of 14 Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, and also allowed re-exports to other countries.

• On Thursday, February 9, Germany said it wants clear decisions from its allies on Leopard 2 for Ukraine by the end of the week.

• On February 11, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, commenting on the results of the EU summit, expressed hope that 80 Leopard 2 tanks would be ready for delivery to Ukraine by the end of March.

• On February 13, it became known that the Bundeswehr began training Ukrainian soldiers on the Leopard 2 main battle tank.
