Ukrainian Armed Forces run Kherson region counteroffensive in three directions - ISW
Ukraine's Armed Forces continue ground maneuvers in three districts of the Kherson region as part of their counteroffensive in the south
This was reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Analysts note that it is about "three zones of kinetic activity":
-
to the northwest of Kherson;
-
near the Ukrainian bridgehead across the Inhulets River;
-
south of the border of the Kherson and Dnipropetrovsk regions, west of Visokopillya.
ISW said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported that the Russians had shelled Ukrainian positions in Pravdyne (northwest of Kherson), indicating that Ukrainian forces had probably at least entered the town.
"Images released by pro-Russian Telegram channels confirmed that on September 16, Russian troops repelled an assault by Ukrainian marines in the Andriivka area (near the Ukrainian bridgehead across the Inhulets River)," the report says.
Experts add that Ukrainian troops continue to transfer forces and equipment to the Andriivka and Bilohirka districts.
"The Ukrainian General Staff indicates that Russian troops shelled Novopetrivka (south of Kryvyi Rih), which indicates that Ukrainian troops entered the city, despite Russia's previous statements about repelling attacks," the Institute for the Study of War concluded.
