Ukraine will receive two NASAMS systems from the US in 2024 — Pentagon
The United States has signed a USD 182 mln contract for two NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems for Ukrainian Armed Forces in 2024
This was announced by the official representative of the US Ministry of Defense, General Patrick Ryder.
He noted that these systems are necessary for Ukraine to form a stable defense of the country in the future.
Certificate. NASAMS is a Norwegian mobile anti-aircraft missile system designed to combat missiles, aircraft and other air targets at low and medium altitudes. Development of the Norwegian company Norwegian Kongsberg and the American Raytheon. NASAMS was the first land-based system to use AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles and the first Western guided missile system.
The main unit is a platoon. One NASAMS platoon — 3 launchers carrying 18 AMRAAM missiles, one AN/TPQ-64 three-coordinate radar station, one mobile command post. A combat (tactical) unit is a battery. One battery — 3 platoons — 9 anti-aircraft guns, 54 missiles, three radars, which have the technical possibility of combining into a single information network, where one radar can work as all three radars, and three PKV. A battery command post is located on one of the PCVs. Battery volley time with all ammunition — no more than 12 seconds.
