Ukraine to launch massive counter-offensive in late summer - Ukrainian General, former intelligence chief
General Mykola Malomuzh, who headed Ukraine's Foreign Intelligence Service 2005-2010, believes that Ukraine’s Armed Forces will launch a large-scale counteroffensive when they receive the appropriate heavy weapons from Ukraine's partners
He expressed this opinion live on the Espreso TV channel.
"Today, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are making fairly accurate point-blank attacks on enemy groups. The occupants have focused on Severodonetsk, Lysychansk and Donetsk regions in general. Putin has set the task of capturing these territories immediately. The occupants are transferring their forces from Zaporiszhzha and Kherson regions Severodonetsk to have success there. So now it would only be logical to commence counter attacks in the regions which the Russian Forces left. This will be the best option until we receive better weapons from our partners, "Malomuzh explained.
Malomuzh added that Ukraine’s Armed Forces should create preconditions for the encirclement of Russian troops in the Kherson region.
"Currently, Ukraine’s Armed Forces are operating very successfully in the Kherson region. 18 settlements have been liberated. If the Armed Forces create conditions for the encirclement of Russian troops in the Kherson and Zaporizhzha regions, the Russian army will be defeated. Currently there are no conditions for this. There is no strategical opportunities in the Kherson region, but there are tactical ones. We need missile systems, which we are already waiting for from our partners, but we should not forget about the domestic military-industrial complex. Reserves are being prepared. We will have a numerical advantage over the enemy, but we need weapons in which the enemy is superior to us. Therefore, in my opinion, the turning point in favour of Ukraine’s Armed Forces will be in July-August this summer, when we have enough equipment," - Malomuzh added.
