Ukraine should open diplomatic missions in Taipei, and Taiwan in Kyiv - Ukrainian MP Merezhko
Oleksandr Merezhko, Ukrainian MP, Chairman of the parliamentary Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation, says that China shows double standards and reacts nervously to attempts to develop relations between Ukraine and Taiwan
He shared his opinion with Espreso TV.
"We need to open a diplomatic mission of Ukraine in Taipei and a mission of Taiwan in Kyiv, and one of the strong arguments is that now there are Ukrainian citizens living permanently in Taiwan, so we must protect the rights and interests of our citizens. Unfortunately, China shows double standards and reacts very nervously to any attempts to make contacts and develop relations between Ukraine and Taiwan. And a natural question arises: Why can European countries create such embassies, and even authoritarian Russia can, but Ukraine cannot? I think that there is no need to postpone resolving this issue, as we like to say, "until the war ends," commented the MP.
Oleksandr Merezhko emphasized that, on the contrary, the most important and radical issues should be resolved now and these embassies should be created today.
