German defense company FFG will build armored vehicle repair center in Ukraine
The German defense company Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft has started construction of an armored vehicle service center in Ukraine
German Bundestag deputy Marcus Faber announced this on Twitter.
"In the west of Ukraine, Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft is building a repair center for armored vehicles in need of repair, such as Leopard 1, which it has supplied," he wrote.
Faber added that the deployment of repair facilities in Ukraine will significantly increase efficiency and reduce the time it takes to restore equipment, as expensive and time-consuming transportation abroad will no longer be necessary in the future, and the Armed Forces will be able to train their mechanics on-site.

FFG is one of the largest suppliers of armored vehicles to Ukraine. The company specializes in the repair of military equipment and the creation of specialized vehicles.
In particular, it will include Leopard 1A5 tanks, WiSENT 1 MC engineering vehicles, Pionierpanzer 2A1 Dachs, and IRIS-T SLS anti-aircraft launchers.
Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft will be the second German defense company to establish a production facility in Ukraine.
- In March 2023, it was reported that another German defense concern, Rheinmetall, might build a tank plant in Ukraine. Later it became known that this plant would produce German tanks and infantry fighting vehicles.
- Later, the German arms manufacturer Rheinmetall announced plans to launch its plant in Ukraine in 2024. The first samples of weapons will appear six months after the start of production.
