Ukraine can already form two battalions of Leopard 2 tanks – Defense Express editor-in-chief Katkov

Oleh Katkov, editor-in-chief of Defense Express, said this on the air of Espreso.

"I would like to hear not once every few months about the delivery of brigade combat vehicle kits, but more often. As for Leopard, given the reports from Poland, Germany, Portugal and other countries that have delivered Leopard 2, they are enough to form two full-fledged tank battalions," he said.

Katkov added that this is quite an impressive force, as there are three tank battalions in a tank brigade.

"As for the third battalion, it is likely to be a little later. A tank battalion consists of 31 vehicles. Spain is to deliver 10 tanks in mid-April. The question is when the Swedish Leopard 2A5s will be delivered. This will allow us to form the third battalion. Some tanks may also be delivered by Poland – they have stated that they will deliver more tanks after they are removed from conservation and refurbished. The process of Leopard 2 delivery is taking shape," the expert summarised.
