This was reported by Vikna, citing the boy's mother Anastasia Zavadetska.

Yehor was in a coma for 12 days

Yehor Zavadetskyi fought for his life for 15 days after falling off his bike. After several operations, Yehor fell into a coma and died on the morning of July 12 in Kyiv. The boy's mother, Anastasia Zavadetska, reported the death of the child on social media: "Our son has died. Yehor has fallen asleep forever. He was 7 years old."

According to the mother, her son had swelling of the brain and eyes. He was in a third-stage coma for 12 days after the surgery.

"When Yehor fell off the bike, the main blow was to the liver, to its connection. In Kyiv, we were told that one of the halves had to be removed. The operation lasted almost nine hours, after which my son was conscious for two days, talking and responding. But a blood clot formed in the remaining part. And again, the operation lasted 3.5 hours. After that, his heart stopped for twenty minutes and he needed a blood transfusion," Anastasia Zavadetska recalls.

The boy's liver and kidneys failed, and his stomach did not function. His right arm was also dying and Yehor was on dialysis.

The boy survived the missile attack on Okhmatdyt

Yehor Zavadetsky survived the Russian missile attack on the National Children's Specialized Hospital Okhmatdyt, from where he and his mother were transported to the Kyiv Cardiac Center. The child died there in the morning of July 12.

Background

7-year-old Yehor Zavadetskyi graduated from the first grade. He is from a large family of internally displaced persons from Kherson. They moved to Holyn, Ivano-Frankivsk region, to live with their paternal relatives.

On June 20, Yehor Zavadetskyi suffered internal hemorrhage, severe bruising of the abdominal wall and a hematoma on his liver. The child was taken to Kalush and operated on. For the next three days, his condition remained stable and serious, so he was sent to Ivano-Frankivsk. Two days later (on the night of June 25) - to Kyiv.

Russian attack on Okhmatdyt children's hospital

On July 8, the Russian army attacked Kyiv with missiles. The attack resulted in numerous deaths. July 9 was declared a Day of Mourning in the capital.

Russia struck the children's hospital with a Kh-101 strategic cruise missile. At the site of the tragedy, fragments of the rear body of the missile with a serial number, as well as part of its rudder, were found.

As of Tuesday, July 9, emergency rescue operations on the territory of Okhmatdyt in Kyiv have been completed. As a result of the Russian attack, two people were killed and one was injured.

Ukraine's Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that UNICEF would provide financial assistance to the families affected by the attack on Okhmatdyt. He also said that the government would fully rebuild the hospital.
