As reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs at 11:27 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9, emergency rescue operations on the territory of Okhmatdyt in Kyiv have been completed.

Two people died as a result of the Russian attack on this location, and 32 wounded people sought medical care. Eight children were hospitalized with injuries.

Russia hits Okhmatdyt with an Kh-101 missile

This was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

SBU investigators found that Russia struck the hospital with an Kh-101 strategic cruise missile. At the scene of the tragedy, fragments of the body of the rear part of the missile with a serial number, as well as part of its rudder, were found.

"The investigation is ongoing within the framework of criminal proceedings initiated by the Security Service under Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with premeditated murder)," the SBU added.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that two adults, including a doctor, were killed in Okhmatdyt.

As of 2:17 p.m., the hospital reported 16 victims, 7 of whom are children. At the same time, 15 people were hospitalized.

Espreso correspondent Dmytro Didora said that according to Health Minister Viktor Liashko, five Okhmatdyt facilities and one children's cardiac surgery center were damaged.

Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko spoke about the situation at the site of the strike during the United News telethon.

"We are carrying out rescue operations to free people from the rubble as quickly as possible. These are children, possibly medical staff. We cannot get in touch with 2 doctors at least. We still have about 1:15-1:20 hours to dismantle the main rubble to give people air," Klymenko said.

He noted that 15 wounded and 2 killed are confirmed in the hospital, but there is no information about deceased minors. It is possible that there may be children under the rubble.

The Interior Minister added that a "green corridor" has been organized in the capital, through which children are taken to the left bank of Kyiv.

Liashko said that surgeries were ongoing at the hospital during the attack.

"We managed to save everyone in the operating rooms and intensive care units. We are calmly bringing them down and in coordination with the Kyiv Emergency Medical Service, the children are being transported. Priority is given to those who are on artificial lung ventilation, who need oxygen assistance, or who cannot live without power," noted Liashko.

Patients are currently being evacuated, including patients from intensive care, where there is no electricity, water or oxygen. The minister noted that people are being transported to all hospitals of the Ministry of Health in the capital.

"The emergency response is now organized. We can see the building where the toxicology department used to be, where children were on dialysis and where the laboratory was working. The State Emergency Service is helping us here, as they were the first to clear the rubble. After a certain period of time, we will understand who was evacuated by the ambulance and who could potentially be under the rubble... The main task is to save lives. Then experts will see what can be preserved. We have a network of all hospitals that are ready to free up certain intensive care beds so that doctors can work in other institutions if they cannot work here," said Liashko.

  • On the morning of July 8, Russian troops launched a massive missile attack on Ukraine. Nearly 20 people were killed and about 50 wounded in the Kyiv region, Kryvyi Rih, Pokrovsk, Dnipro, and Kyiv.
