UK Prime Minister expects NATO to finalize security guarantees for Ukraine in July
UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak expects his NATO allies to finalize a draft security guarantee for Ukraine before the NATO summit in Vilnius
Bloomberg reports that speaking at the Munich Security Conference, Rishi Sunak supported the idea of Ukraine's eventual accession to NATO, but insisted that there must be a plan to guarantee the country's security.
“We need to think about the future, how we protect Ukraine's security,” he said. “This is a conversation that we need to start, because the Vilnius Summit is a good place to end.”
The meeting of NATO leaders will take place on July 11 and 12 in the Lithuanian capital.
