He shared his views with Espreso TV.

"The question is being asked in the United States: 'What about our money? We are actually creating an opportunity for Ukraine to survive and fight. So we want to know how much of it really reaches Ukrainian citizens and whether officials are not accumulating it for their own purposes.' For example, for political purposes, to look good in the elections, or for corrupt purposes, to invest money to live after the war and not know grief, but for the money of American taxpayers. Some may say that this is external control. But it is not. It is control over their own money," the journalist said.

Vitaly Portnikov said that this is like talking to a teenager who is given money by his parents for particular needs, not to spend on harmful things.

"That's why the Ukrainian state apparatus will now be spoken to in this way. The time of squandering money is ending for the Ukrainian authorities. An age of responsibility is beginning. This will end in a way many of these people couldn't even have imagined when they decided to enter politics. This is just the beginning, we will see a complete reconstruction of the entire Ukrainian government. After the war is over, it will be comprehensive and will take on a character that we cannot even imagine. And then, after the war, this Ukrainian budget will be filled with money from American and European taxpayers, and no one will allow it to be spent on corruption. You know, when people allowed themselves to engage in corruption at American expense, the Americans never hesitated. Such people were detained even in presidential residences and brought to the US for trial. Fortunately, we are not a country with some kind of dictatorship that does not trust the law, but we must always remember this," Portnikov stated.

The text of the Telegram post:

“The time of squandering money is coming to an end for the Ukrainian authorities. A time of responsibility is beginning. This will end in a way many of these people couldn't even have imagined when they decided to enter politics,” journalist Vitaly Portnikov told Espreso TV.

On January 27, US auditors arrived in Kyiv to make sure that "no aid or weapons are being diverted"
