The Lavra situation unravels following the FSB scenario
In the West, freedom of religion and freedom of conscience are sacred cows
Observing the situation around the Lavra, I can say that so far everything is going according to the FSB's scenario, which aims to show the West how the church is being oppressed in Ukraine.
In the West, few people distinguish between the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) and the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (Kyiv Patriarchate), except for experts, so for most people it will sound like a story of church oppression. And in the West, freedom of religion and freedom of conscience are sacred cows. This topic is extremely sensitive for Western society. And it is on this society that support for Ukraine and pressure on politicians not to reduce aid to our country depend.
“We can see how clumsy and unprofessional actions are being used to create a picture for the Western media, and Russia will spend more money to cover this topic. Well, just as expected”
And what do we see now? We can see how clumsy and unprofessional actions are being used to create a picture for the Western media, and Russia will spend more money to cover this topic. Well, just as expected. And why is that?
Because we should have used our intelligence and experience. And if there were none, then we should have engaged those who did have it and could act professionally, efficiently and without creating reputational losses for Ukraine. In general, we had to start with communications, both with the Western media and within the country. And then we had to... Although, why write what and how to do if the Office of the President chose to screw everything up anyway?
P.S. I am in no way suggesting myself for this job, but there are enough people in Ukraine who know what needs to be done to get results without reputational losses. But none of them has anything to do with Bankova Street. And why is that? Why? Does anyone know?
