"Such demonstrations are completely against international law": Azov families ask UN, Red Cross to stop Russian show trial against Ukrainian fighters
The Association of Families of Azovstal Defenders has appealed to the International Committee of the Red Cross and the United Nations about the Russian occupiers' "tribunal", or show trial, against the Azov fighters and called to prevent the trial of the Ukrainian soldiers
This is stated in the statement of Azov families on Telegram.
Relatives of the Mariupol defenders note that holding trials of military personnel "contradicts generally recognized international laws on the treatment of prisoners of war."
An "international" tribunal is impossible in a "republic" recognized as a state only by such pseudo-states as South Abkhazia and Ossetia. A propaganda show is being prepared, and no matter where it is - in Donetsk or Mariupol, it will not be recognized by anyone conscious in the world. Military servicemen of Ukraine, who performed the duties defined by the state and the law on the territory of Ukraine, cannot be condemned by other states, especially pseudo-states not recognized by anyone. Such a "tribunal" will have no force in the legal field of Ukraine," the organization stressed.
The association appealed to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, to all international organizations, in particular, the guarantors of the safety of the defenders of Azovstal - the International Committee of the Red Cross and the UN, with a request to condemn and prevent the holding of fake tribunals that threaten the fighters of the Azov regiment.
