Sensors to be installed near Kyiv to detect Russian missiles and drones
System of acoustic sensors to be installed in Kyiv region to enhance capabilities to detect Russian missiles and drones
This was announced by Kyiv region's police head Andriy Nebitov, Moya Kyivshchyna publication reports.
Nebitov claims that now Russian missiles or drones move at low altitude, when they are difficult to track using radar equipment, and is often reported to the military by local residents.
He said that to protect critical infrastructure facilities in the Kyiv region it was decided to install sensors that can collect acoustic information and timely transmit it to air defense units.
"This will protect not only critical infrastructure, not only substations that are constantly shelled by Russia but also other objects that will be targeted," said Nebytov.
He explained that these are sensors of additional information collection that will allow air defense to receive data not only from radars and from the 102 lines, but also from places where there are no people.
- On December 21, the United States announced the decision to transfer Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine. It is known that the Patriot air defense system is capable of shooting down cruise missiles, short-range ballistic missiles and aircraft at a much higher altitude than the air defense systems previously provided to Ukraine.
- The Air Force said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces can master Patriot in a few months
