Russia's "hunt" for the NASAMS air defense system is one of the most difficult tasks that can be set - Oleh Katkov
Defense Express editor-in-chief Oleh Katkov says that detecting and identifying the NASAMS air defense system is an astronomical task
He shared his opinion with Espreso.
"Regarding the so-called hunt for NASAMS - in fact, this is one of the most difficult tasks that can be set. The fact is that this installation is considered by means of space or aviation intelligence as an ordinary truck, that is, it is not a specialized chassis. It really looks like an ordinary military truck from above - to detect and identify it is already an astronomical task", he said.
Katkov noted that these systems are regularly moved, which makes it difficult to track them.
"It must be understood that the Russian Federation has only an extremely conditional high-precision weapon that can strike according to coordinates. Even if there is a threat of coming under fire, in any case NASAMS moves to another place and the missile does not hit it. Indeed, launching such a full-fledged hunt for such systems is like a statement by Shoigu, who ordered the escalation of hostilities. It disagrees with Putin's statement about the operational pause and even with the standard mantra that everything is going according to plan. If everything is going according to plan, why have they become more active?", he concluded.
