Russians prepare to withdraw troops from Kherson - Zgurets
Serhii Zgurets, Defense Express analyst, believes that the military command of Russian army may be preparing to withdraw its troops from the right bank of Dnipro river in Kherson region.
He shared his opinion with Espreso.TV live on air.
"Surovikin wants to complete the operation around Donetsk. In particular, to capture the city of Bakhmut, which is related to showing at least some success on the battlefield. However, it will be extremely difficult for Russian army to implement this," Zgurets explained.
The expert noted that Surovikin's statement may be a hint at the withdrawal of Russian troops from Kherson.
"Yesterday, Surovikin said that Ukrainians will flood the right bank of Dnipro river in Kherson region and that it is necessary to prepare for unusual ways of conducting hostilities. Such statements may be the first hint that Russian troops will be withdrawn from Kherson. However, this also contradicts Putin's desire to hold Kherson. Therefore, it is possible that we are now observing a change in the approach of waging war in the military leadership of Russian army," Zgurets added.
