Ukrainian forces report rise in chemical attacks by Russia
From February 15, 2023, to July 24, 2024, there were 3,570 reported cases of Russia using ammunition containing hazardous chemicals
The Support Forces of Ukraine's Armed Forces reported this information on August 9.
"Russia continues its aggression and flagrantly violates the rules of warfare by ignoring the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling, and Use of Chemical Weapons. During its large-scale attack on Ukraine, Russia has used special ammunition containing hazardous chemicals against the Defense Forces of Ukraine, in addition to conventional weapons," the statement said.
It was noted that Russia used K-51 and RG-VO hand grenades, which are anti-riot weapons and are prohibited for use in warfare.
"In July alone, 358 cases of Russia using ammunition containing hazardous chemical compounds were recorded and documented," the Support Forces of Ukraine's Armed Forces added.
