"For world to see": Kyiv resident urges opening museum at Russian missile strike site
The high-rise building in Kyiv's Shevchenkivskyi district, which was destroyed in Russia's July 8 missile attack, could be used as a museum
One of its residents expressed this opinion in a comment to Espreso correspondent Kateryna Halko.
"Maybe one day it will be rebuilt. But I am in favor of making a museum here. Not just a museum on Hrushevskoho Street, but a real museum. I want everyone, the whole world, to come here and see it. Looked at life, at what Ukrainians have been destroyed for for generations. Why? For dozens of generations. Why do they hate us so much? Tell me, why do they want to destroy me? Why did they want to starve my grandmother to death? Why were the first three children of my grandmother starved to death? They died of starvation in the Chernihiv region. Why? I want to ask," she said.
The woman said she had lived happily in this house for 15 years. She recalled the moment of the rocket attack and her first emotions.
"I was at home. In the second entrance, on the second floor. I had just arrived, parked my car (here, by the way, it is broken) and entered the apartment. At first I sat down in the hallway, between two walls, as is the rule. But I had two cats at home, so I thought I would see where my cats were. I went into the bedroom: one cat was sitting on the bed, scared, and I didn't see the other. So I sat down to look under the bed: well, I think, maybe he hid. And at that moment, when I sat down, I was thrown back, hit the wall, and somehow sat back down. It was all in a moment, at first a shock: everything was broken, all the windows, balconies... It's all in glasses, and it's all shocking. I see a car burning in the yard, I think there are even several cars. The front door is also smashed. The boiler fell over. And if I had been sitting in the bathroom, I would have been "killed" by the boiler. As a result, I only had a few scratches," says the resident.
She notes that the damage caused by the missile strike has already been recorded. The estimated losses are UAH 500,000 to her apartment and UAH 400,000 to her car. So far, she has not received any help, although it was promised. However, she does not know any more specifics about compensation.
The woman says she cannot talk about any plans yet, because the affected residents are still in shock from what happened.
"I really want, first of all, to see a tribunal for all the criminals, terrorists, and maniacs. The whole world should realize that we are the first. But after us, if the world does not stop Russia, there will be all of them," says the victim.
"We are ordinary, cool Ukrainians. Kind, sincere, and naive. And we as a people have already taken place and have already won. And we will definitely have our own heroes in the future. And future generations of Ukrainians will definitely not be ashamed of us. We have fulfilled our mission to form the nation, our people," the woman is convinced.
- On Wednesday, July 10, rescuers completed rescue and recovery operations in Kyiv. A massive rocket attack on July 8 killed 33 people and injured 121 in the Ukrainian capital.
