Russian troops fail to reach Khromove near Bakhmut, Ukrainian Defense Forces repel them
As of mid-afternoon on March 22, the situation in Bakhmut is difficult but controlled. The Russian army has not managed to reach the village of Khromove near the city of Bakhmut
Petro Voloshchenko, a soldier with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, shared the information on Espreso TV.
"These suicidal attacks by Russians through sheer manpower do not stop. The enemy has concentrated its forces in the north, northeast, and east, where the Bakhmutka River is. They are not able to complete the so-called operational encirclement. They could not reach Khromove, we repelled them from there. Some guys even went into their first trenches," he said.
Voloshchenko added that Russian troops have switched their forces and are pushing back to the southeast.
"There is a pincer down the bottom, it has aligned with Korsunska Street. But they risk being surrounded there. The first strike on this pincer is already emerging. Russians had some success there, they came in from the southeast tonight. They seized several five-story buildings and advanced along the street, but our guys counterattacked. We knocked them out of there and drove them even deeper into the fields. They are again in the operational space for our aviation, for our drone "birds" that correct and direct fire," said the military.
Voloshchenko said that the situation in Bakhmut is currently difficult but under control.
"The most fierce phase of the assault has been going on for a week now, wave after wave, but we managed to cope with their impulse. We managed to tame and utilize a significant force of their assault units - both paratroopers and Wagner mercinaries," he summarized.
