This was stated by Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin during a press conference.

According to him, 68,431 war crimes have been registered in Ukraine since February 24, 2022. There are 952 documented facts of the use of prohibited means of warfare. These include the enemy's use of cluster munitions, mines, chemical and incendiary munitions.

These crimes resulted in the deaths of 9,655 people, including 461 children. 12,829 people were injured, including 926 children.

In total, more than 2,600 war crimes against children have been registered: deaths or injuries of children, armed attacks on institutions and facilities for children, as well as cases of forced deportation or abduction. In particular, more than 16,000 forcibly displaced Ukrainian children are currently known. But these are only those who appear in criminal proceedings, while in reality their number may be many times higher.

"When we talk about these statistics, we must realize that the real number is much higher. After all, we still do not have access to the occupied territories," noted Andriy Kostin.

The highest number of war crimes was recorded in Donetsk (15727), Kharkiv (12762), Kherson (11109) and Kyiv (10652) regions. A large number of them are registered in the territories liberated from Russian occupation.

For example, in the Kyiv region, 2,290 civilians died as a result of war crimes. In Bucha only - more than 700. 118 people have already been notified of suspicion of committing these crimes. Indictments against 45 defendants have been sent to court, and three guilty verdicts have already been issued against four criminals.

In the Kharkiv region, 936 bodies were found after the liberation, including 739 civilians. During the investigation, 21 torture chambers were discovered, and facts of abduction or disappearance of more than 1,007 civilians were recorded. 20 people were notified of war crimes suspicion, and indictments were sent to court against eight of them. Seven people have been convicted.

The existence of 10 torture chambers was confirmed in Kherson and the liberated districts of the region. Facts of abduction or disappearance of 1232 people were recorded. 16 people were notified of suspicion, and 4 indictments against 6 defendants were sent to court.
