Systematic use of chemical weapons: Russia attacks Ukrainian military 371 times in month
The Russian occupation army is systematically using chemical weapons against the Ukrainian military on the battlefield: 371 attacks were recorded in a month
This was reported by the Strategic Communications Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"Russia's chemical attacks are becoming more frequent. The occupiers continue to violate all possible international norms. The trend is growing, and the enemy's use of hazardous chemicals has become systematic," the statement said.
According to the Strategic Communications Department, the Ukrainian Defence Forces recorded 371 cases of Russian use of ammunition containing hazardous chemicals last month.
"This is 90 cases more than in the previous period,” the Strategic Communications Department said.
Russia's chemical attacks in Ukraine
The use of chemical weapons against the Ukrainian Armed Forces is a violation of the Chemical Weapons Convention, to which Russia is a party.
In February, Ukraine has reported to the OSCE that it had documented 626 cases of the use of ammunition with toxic chemicals by the Russian military.
Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, at least 1,412 such cases have already been recorded.
- On March 4, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that since the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine, Russian forces have used chemical attacks 1068 times, 250 of them in February 2024.
- The Russian forces have begun to use more active use of toxic munitions. The head of the public relations department of the Tauride unit, Dmytro Lykhoviy, said that on March 9, Russian army dropped such munitions 15 times.
