Ukraine authorizes Oncilla-Shturm armored personnel carrier for military use
Ukraine's Defense Ministry has approved the domestically produced Oncilla-Shturm armored personnel carrier for operational use, which is designed to perform a wide range of tasks
Ukraine's Defense Ministry reports.
The armored personnel carrier accommodates a crew of three and six gunners. It is equipped with an automatic transmission and a turbo diesel engine, which together provide the vehicle with excellent mobility and speed characteristics. Its fuel reserve is sufficient for a range of over 700 km.
According to the ministry, the armor and structural features of the Oncilla-Shturm ensure the protection of the crew and troops during small arms fire, fragmentation, and detonation of explosive devices.
The standard equipment of the armored personnel carrier includes an automatic tire inflation system, hydraulic power steering, an air conditioning system with additional heating functionality, an automatic fire suppression system, a filtration and ventilation system, and a winch.
The Oncilla-Shturm is armed with a remotely controlled combat module featuring a heavy machine gun. The Ministry of Defense added that the armored personnel carrier can be produced in several modifications.
"The domestically produced Oncilla-Shturm armored vehicle showcases Ukraine's progress in developing equipment that meets the modern needs of the battlefield. Its reliability and functionality enable our military to carry out combat missions under challenging conditions, ensuring personnel protection and operational efficiency," said Deputy Defense Minister Dmytro Klimenkov.
