Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire: what it means for Ukraine
A U.S.-France-brokered ceasefire has been reached between Israel and Hezbollah. The deal includes the withdrawal of Hezbollah forces from the border with Israel, replaced by 5,000 Lebanese army soldiers, while Israel will pull back from occupied Lebanese territory within 60 days
The author of the Resurgam Telegram channel discussed the issue.
The agreement marks a win for the Lebanese government and Israel, but a setback for Hezbollah, whose leadership has faced three rounds of decimation. "Hezbollah loses its privileged position in the border zone," the agreement notes, diminishing its political influence in Lebanon.
For Israel, this means increased security as Hezbollah fighters retreat. For Lebanon, it brings hope for restored territorial control. But for Hezbollah, reliance on Iranian support fell short, leaving it weakened on both the military and political fronts.
What does it mean for Ukraine?
The ceasefire reduces the risk of a larger Middle Eastern conflict, which had escalated oil prices and threatened to shift Western focus away from Ukraine. Now, with tensions easing, "oil prices should, due to expectations of stabilization, react downwards," analysts say, providing relief to global markets.
While Hamas in Gaza remains an issue for Israel, the ceasefire temporarily stabilizes the region, mitigating risks of further chaos and offering Ukraine a reprieve from geopolitical distractions.
