Up to 3,000 Russian soldiers may get trapped in "kettle" in Kursk region – media
Following Ukrainian strikes on three key bridges across the Seim River in Russia’s Kursk region, as many as 3,000 Russian soldiers may now be cornered in a "pocket"
BILD reported the information.
The report highlights that the destruction of these bridges could isolate Russian forces, given that the Kursk region is bordered by Ukrainian territory to the west and south.
According to Ukrainian sources, between 2,000 and 3,000 Russian soldiers remain trapped within this "pocket." An open-source data analyst for BILD noted that while the state border between Russia and Ukraine to the south and west of the "pocket" is fortified for defense, Russian troops could struggle to hold their ground if Ukrainian forces strike from the east.
"The Russians now face a straightforward dilemma: fight to defend this area or retreat. Obviously, both options are disastrous for them. But let’s be clear — this battle isn’t decisive. We still don't know how much strength remains within Ukraine," the analyst stated.
- The Ukrainian military reportedly destroyed the last remaining bridge over the Seim River in the Glushkovsky district of the Kursk region.
