"Ukrainians are fighting with extraordinary courage": Biden reiterates allies' support for Kyiv
At a ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy, President Joe Biden vowed the U.S. would "not walk away" from Kyiv
The Voice of America reported this.
"Ukrainians are fighting with extraordinary courage, suffering great losses but never backing down. The United States, NATO, and a coalition of more than 50 countries are standing strong with Ukraine. We will not walk away, because if we do, if we do Ukraine will be subjugated, and it will not end there. Ukraine's neighbors will be threatened, all of Europe will be threatened," Biden said.
The president also stressed that retreating from support for Ukraine would mean forgetting the lessons of World War II, when the entire free world united in opposition to dictators.
"We cannot allow this to happen - to surrender to bullies, to bow down to dictators is simply unthinkable. If we did, it would mean that we have forgotten what happened here on these holy shores. Make no mistake, we will not bow down, we will not forget," he added.
- On June 5, it was reported that Joe Biden would hold two meetings with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during his visit to Europe.
