Ukrainian forces repel 23 Russian attacks in Avdiivka sector - General Staff

Russian attacks across Ukraine

Russia launched 54 airstrikes and 33 attacks with multiple launch rocket systems at the positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks resulted in civilian casualties. Private and apartment buildings, as well as other civilian infrastructure, were destroyed and damaged.

Frontline situation

Over the last day, 45 combat engagements took place. The operational situation in eastern and southern Ukraine remains difficult.

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus the situation hasn't changed significantly and no enemy offensive groups have been detected. Certain units of the Belarusian Armed Forces are performing tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine

At the same time, the Russian army continued shelling the entire borderline with mortars and artillery: over 20 settlements across the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions were attacked.

In the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled two Russian attacks near the towns of Synkivka and Ivanivka in the Kharkiv region, where the Russian army unsuccessfully tried to break through the defences of Ukrainian troops. About 15 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled five enemy attacks in the areas of Serebrianske forestry in the Luhansk region, Terny and Yampolivka in the Donetsk region, where the Russian troops, supported by aviation, tried to break through the Ukrainian defence. About 15 localities suffered from Russian artillery and mortar attacks.

In the Bakhmut direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled three Russian attacks near Bohdanivka and Klishchiyivka in Donetsk region, where Russian forces unsuccessfully tried to improve the tactical situation. More than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire, including: Grigorivka, Ivanivske, Klishchiyivka and Andriivka in Donetsk Oblast.

In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 20 Russian attacks near Avdiivka and another 3 attacks near Pervomaisk, Donetsk region, where Russian enemy, supported by aviation, tried to break through the Ukrainian defence. Over 15 localities came under Russian artillery and mortar fire.

In the Marinka direction, the Ukrainian Defence Forces continue to hold Russian troops back in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. About 5 settlements came under Russian artillery and mortar fire.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, two Russian attacks were repelled in the area south of Zolota Nyva in the Donetsk region. About 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, Russia did not conduct any offensive actions. Over 20 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Kherson direction, Russian enemy does not give up intention to drive Ukrainian units from their footholds on the left bank of the Dnipro River. Thus, four unsuccessful attempts to storm the positions of Ukrainian troops were made during the day. Russian enemy launched air strikes in the areas of Chervonyi Mayak, Krynky, Zmiivka in the Kherson region. The city of Kherson and the settlements of Chervonyi Mayak, Tokarivka, Sadove, Kizomys in the Kherson region came under artillery and mortar fire. Russia also fired from multiple launch rocket systems near the settlements of Ivanivka, Krynky, and Inzhenerne in Kherson region.

Ukrainian strikes against Russian military targets

Throughout the day, Ukrainian aviation struck at 12 Russian military positions.

Missile troops struck 1 area of Russian forces' concentration and 1 Russian artillery unit.

• Over the last day, 77 combat engagements took place at the front. Ukrainian defenders repelled most of the Russian attacks in the Avdiivka sector. At the same time, the Russian army's losses in manpower since the beginning of the invasion have reached 387,000.
