Ukraine should copy Russia's idea of traffic lights drone warning - Defense Express
Russia has introduced a simple and effective measure to counter Ukrainian FPV drones: special traffic lights designed to warn about threats
Ivan Kyrychevskyi, a military expert at Defense Express, shared his opinion with the Espreso TV channel.
‘Russians are installing devices that look like ordinary traffic lights, but they trigger a signal from a detector that discovers our FPV drones. A red light means that our drone is close and drivers should not go, while yellow and green lights mean that there is no threat, and they can continue driving. This is the kind of drone approach detection system we should borrow and adopt. This is the moment when we need to learn from the enemy,’ he said.
According to Kyrychevskyi, the Russian development has attracted attention because it may be the first high-tech and practical product they have created during a full-scale invasion to reduce the threat from Ukrainian FPV drones.
‘There is nothing better than these traffic lights, except for destroying drones physically or using electronic warfare. The traffic lights look quite simple, but they work. I am sure that we will find specialists who can combine an anti-drone detector with a traffic light. You can use railway or other traffic lights. The main thing is to repeat the principle,’ he added.
- Earlier, Serhiy Flash, a military expert in the field of radio technology, said that the Russian forces had developed a traffic light that can warn of FPV drones.
