Russian army installs 'traffic lights' to counter Ukrainian FPV drones
Russia has introduced an intriguing measure to counter Ukrainian FPV drones: traffic lights designed to warn about drone threats, placed at high-risk road sections
Serhii ‘Flash’ Beskrestnov, a communications, radio and electronic warfare expert, shared a photo of the device.
At first glance, the solution seems basic, but is actually highly pragmatic, Defense Express expert group notes.
The signaling system is straightforward: green indicates no threat, yellow signals a distant drone detection, and red signifies a high-level threat.
This system informs drivers about drone risks even without individual detectors, enabling them to navigate risky areas at safer times.
However, the underlying architecture of the system remains unclear. It could involve individual detectors for each light or a network of integrated sensors and indicators.
This isn't Russia's first attempt to safeguard logistics routes from Ukrainian FPV drones. For instance, last September, nets were installed over roads in the Bakhmut area to counter UAVs.
