Ukraine is likely to receive up to 20 Mirage-2000 fighter jets from France - Defense Express
The editor-in-chief of Defense Express, Oleh Katkov, said that France is probably preparing to transfer up to 20 Mirage-2000-5 fighter jets to Ukraine, which are to be decommissioned by the French army
He shared this information on Espreso TV.
"The information that Ukraine will receive the Mirage-2000-5 fighter jets from France came from the President of France. Moreover, the deadline is six months. However, it is important to note that the French press reported that Ukrainian pilots were allegedly training on Mirage-2000 fighters back in March 2023. This information was later denied by the Air Force Command. At the official level, the French Senate discussed the possibility of transferring these aircraft to Ukraine in the winter of 2022-2023," Katkov said.
According to the expert, Ukraine may receive up to 20 Mirage-2000-5 fighters from France.
"An interview with the French ambassador to Ukraine was recently published, who said that the issue of training and preparation of pilots for Mirage-2000 takes months. It is not yet known how long this period is, because even six months can be considered as several months. As for the number of Mirage-2000-5 fighters that France can provide to Ukraine, this information is kept secret.
However, it can be stated that we are talking about 20 jets. This is the number of these aircraft in service in France, and they are being decommissioned anyway. This was emphasized by the French Defense Minister. He stressed that all the equipment that is being decommissioned is being transferred to Ukraine," he added.
- On June 6, French President Emmanuel Macron said that France plans to announce the transfer of Mirage 2000 military aircraft to Ukraine.
