Ukraine builds underground hospitals in Kherson region — Ukrainian official
Oleksandr Prokudin, the head of the Kherson Regional State Administration, said that the region will now have 4 hospitals underground to provide medical services despite Russian shelling
He shared the information on Telegram.
"The first project is an underground operating hospital, which will have all the necessary facilities and conditions to conduct surgical interventions. Design and estimate documentation has already been prepared, we have a positive expert report, and work is underway," Prokudin said.
Efforts are also underway to establish a blood center, including the preparation of a special underground room where blood donations can be made. According to the regional head, there is a steady influx of blood donors.
"Another hospital will also feature underground wards dedicated to patients with infectious diseases, each with separate compartments. We are currently focusing on repairing ventilation systems and other necessary infrastructure, with support from the Kherson Red Cross. Additionally, a crucial project underway is the establishment of an underground perinatal center. This initiative, based on an already developed plan, encompasses the setup of maternity facilities, prenatal operating rooms, postpartum wards, and more," said the head of the Kherson region.
According to him, they also plan to establish underground schools in the region.
