Zelenskyy wanted: Putin wants to negotiate with the US
Putin will only want to talk about a freeze with the United States. And, obviously, only after the American elections.
Putting Ukraine's leaders on the wanted list by the so-called Russian Interior Ministry is Putin's response to hints from the Ukrainian authorities that negotiations with Russia are, in principle, possible.
This does not mean that Russia does not want to talk about how to put the war on hold. After all, Russia itself is strategically losing out as it turns into a technologically minor country, a kind of raw material vassal of China.
But the Kremlin does not want to talk about a pause with Ukraine. And since there is no clear political leadership in Europe yet (although the European Union is gradually moving towards it), Putin will only want to talk about a “freeze” with the United States. And, obviously, only after the American elections (not that long to wait).
Of course, it is not a given that such negotiations will be possible after the American elections. But there will definitely be attempts at some level. Both from Moscow and, quite possibly, from Washington.
Until then, there will be only maneuvers. In the war, in the media, and in diplomatic corridors.
