"10 months of ammo destroyed": military expert on Ukraine’s attack in Tver region
Oleksandr Kovalenko, a Ukrainian military and political observer with the Information Resistance group, states that the Russian Main Missile and Artillery Directorate in the Tver region had a stockpile sufficient for 10 months of active combat operations, or more than a year at medium intensity
He writes about this on his Telegram channel.
According to the current information in open sources, up to 30,000 tons of ammunition, mostly 122-mm MLRS rockets and 82-mm mines, could have been stored in the warehouses.
“Exactly how much of each type of ammunition was in storage is not specified, and it is unlikely that such detailed information will become availableю For many, the figure of 30,000 tons may not be very meaningful. I'll attempt to clarify by considering the types of ammunition that were kept at this arsenal,” Kovalenko writes.
Focusing solely on 122-mm rockets, there are over 460,000 units in the stockpile. Considering the frequency of MLRS usage in the combat zone, this represents a supply sufficient for 10 months of active combat operations or more than a year at medium intensity.
Regarding 82-mm mines, the stockpile amounts to 10 million units. Given their intensity of use in the combat zone, this would cover more than a year and a half of active deployment.
“I present this number not as an exact figure but as a conditional estimate, assuming there were exclusively this type of ammunition in the warehouses. I am certain that there were other types of ammunition stored at the arsenal, including 152-mm and 122-mm artillery shells, and even SAMs have been mentioned,” the military and political observer notes.
“But consider the scale of the losses, even with a mix of different types. It won't be easy to extinguish all the ongoing detonation. I believe they will handle it similarly to the oil depots—watching from a distance while everything burns to the ground. Overall, the UAV attack was ‘perfectly repelled,’” he added.
