Wiretapping and forced mobilization: Zaporizhzhia regional council chairman on situation in occupied territories
The Soviet Union comes back to the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine: people's salaries are withheld, their phones are tapped, and they are forcibly mobilized
This was reported by the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Council, Olena Zhuk, in a commentary to LIGA.net.
According to her, people are queuing up to receive social and banking services, and are unable to protect their rights and receive quality service.
"In short, the Soviet system in its worst form is returning to the temporarily occupied territories... Censorship, total control of behavior on the Internet, wiretapping of phones and conversations in queues are new realities for people who are used to living in a democratic society under the Ukrainian government," the official said.
The occupation authorities also deny access to medical care, employment and social benefits to Ukrainians who refuse to get Russian passports.
"Coercion in all spheres, including the involvement of our people in the enemy army. The occupiers register teenagers, conduct zombie campaigns in schools and colleges, and organize aggressive information campaigns to force Ukrainians to fight against Ukrainians," said the head of the Zaporizhzhia regional council.
When asked how many Ukrainians have joined the ranks of the Russian army, Zhuk said that there is no accurate information on this.
