Russian forces block evacuations from Kharkiv region, shoot civilians - volunteer
Yevhen Bielov, the head of the Free Kharkiv Movement, stated that Russian troops are blocking civilian evacuations from the temporarily occupied area of Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region
He shared this information on Espreso TV.
”During the evacuation, we had various incidents. For example, we went to pick up an elderly woman, but she said she needed more time to get ready. That evening, Russian troops arrived at her street in Vovchansk. Some people do not evacuate because they haven’t packed or are waiting for someone. Currently, evacuating civilians from the Vovchansk area is very challenging. Some people didn’t evacuate because they thought the occupation wouldn’t reach them. Eventually, these people either evacuated on their own or we helped them evacuate,” Bielov said.
The volunteer reported that Russian forces are blocking civilians from evacuating Vovchansk.
”Many people cannot endure the occupation. Although Vovchansk was initially occupied, at that time Russian troops moved through the town toward Kharkiv. Now, the situation is very dire. Fighting continues in Vovchansk itself, and the Russian troops are blocking civilian evacuations. They are shooting people in the streets and killing those who remain in the town," he added.
