Russia loses aircraft, 10 tanks and 960 soldiers in one day of war in Ukraine — General Staff

Over the last day, 70 combat clashes took place in the frontline. Russian troops tried to advance in 8 directions, but the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled a number of attacks and eliminated another 960 Russian soldiers

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff shared their regular report, as below.

The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to January 30, 2024, amounted to:

  • personnel – about  384,140 (+960) per day)
  • tanks ‒ 6,300 (+10)
  • armored fighting vehicles ‒ 11,725 (+29) 
  • artillery systems – 9,144 (+31) 
  • MLRS – 972
  • air defense systems ‒ 663 (+3) 
  • aircraft – 332 (+1) 
  • helicopters – 324
  • UAV operational-tactical level – 7,084 (+35)
  • cruise missiles ‒ 1,846 
  • warships/boats ‒ 23
  • submarines – 1
  • vehicles and tank trucks – 12,191 (+42)
  • special equipment ‒ 1,448 (+5)

Frontline update: Russian troops attack in 8 frontline areas over the day, but fail

Near the state Ukrainian border with Belarus, the operational situation has not changed.

In the northeastern border area, the Russian army maintains a military presence, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to threatened areas, and increases the density of minefields along the state border in the Belgorod region.

In the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 7 Russian attacks near Synkivka and east of Pishchane, Kharkiv region. 

In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian soldiers repelled 4 attacks near Terny, Donetsk region, and Serebryanka forestry, Luhansk region.

In the Bakhmut direction, Ukrainian troops repelled 3 attacks near Bohdanivka and Ivanivske in the Donetsk region. 

In the Avdiivka direction, Ukraine holds back the Russian invading forces, who keep trying to surround Avdiivka. Ukrainian Defense Forces repulsed 16 attacks near Novobakhmutivka and Avdiivka, and another 8 attacks near Pervomayske and Nevelske, Donetsk region.

In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian defenders are holding back Russian forces near Heorhiivka and Novomykhailivka, Donetsk region, with 8 attacks repelled.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 2 attacks near Zolota Nyva, Donetsk region.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces fended off 2 attacks west of Verbove and Robotyne, Zaporizhzhia region.

In the Kherson direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are expanding the bridgehead. Despite significant losses, Russian troops do not give up trying to drive Ukrainian units from their positions. Over the past day, Russia carried out 8 unsuccessful assaults on the positions of Ukrainian troops.

At the same time, Ukrainian soldiers are actively inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the occupying forces, depleting Russian troops along the entire front line.

Russia attacks Ukraine with missiles, aircraft, artillery and drones

Russia launched 10 missile strikes with S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles at the civilian infrastructure of Myrnohrad, Lysivka, Donetsk region, and Muzykivka, Kherson region.

It also launched 114 air strikes and 99 MLRS attacks at Ukrainian troops' positions and populated areas. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist attacks have resulted in deaths and injuries among the civilian population. Residential private and apartment buildings, schools and other civilian infrastructure were destroyed and damaged.

At night, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 35 Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs. Ukraine’s air defense destroyed 15 drones.

Russia carried out air strikes targeting 27 settlements across Ukraine.

Over 130 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions came under Russian artillery fire.

Ukrainian Armed Forces strike 20 Russian personnel concentrations

Over the past day, Ukrainian aviation struck 20 concentrations of Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment and 2 anti-aircraft missile systems.

Ukrainian missile units struck 2 Russian air defense systems, 4 artillery units and an electronic warfare station.

  • On the morning of January 30, Russia alleged the downing of 21 drones over the territory of four regions and the temporarily occupied Crimea.
