Russia cuts off water supply to Pokrovsk, no restoration possible: officials urge evacuation
Russia has halted the water supply to Pokrovsk, Donetsk region. Due to the attack, the modular filtration station is non-operational, and restoring it is currently impossible
This was confirmed by Vadym Filashkin, the head of the Donetsk regional military administration.
"As a result of the hostilities, the modular filtration station that has been supplying water to Pokrovsk is now offline. Restoring its functionality is currently impossible," Filashkin said.
Efforts are underway to address the situation. Seventy-five wells have been drilled for public use in the Pokrovsk community using local budget funds, and an additional 250 wells were drilled near multi-story buildings using homeowner community funds.
Meanwhile, drinking water deliveries have been organized within the community, and eight reverse osmosis units have been installed, allowing people to collect free water.
"The situation is dire and won't improve anytime soon. That’s why I repeat my call: evacuate! Leaving is the only smart option for civilians!" Filashkin urged.
- On September 9, Ukraine's Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi reported that, despite attempts, Russian forces had not gained any ground in the Pokrovsk direction in recent days.
