This was reported by Suspilne media outlet, citing sources in the SBU.

‘Last night, the SBU and the Special Forces drones ‘visited’ the Aleksin Chemical Plant in the Tula region of the Russian Federation. It is part of the Rostec corporation and produces ammunition, gunpowder, and materials for the Russian military-industrial complex. From 9:30 p.m., air alerts were declared in various regions of the Russian Federation due to drone flights, and at 3 a.m., residents of Tula began to write about the attack on the chemical plant, explosions, and the movement of fire trucks heading to the site of the fire,’ the source said.

According to him, the SBU is targeting facilities in Russia that are involved in the war in Ukraine.

‘The destruction of weapons depots, military airfields and enterprises that are part of the Russian military-industrial complex reduce Russia's ability to terrorize our country,’ he added.

Earlier, Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Centre for Countering Disinformation, said that a chemical plant in the city of Aleksin in the Tula region of Russia had been attacked.

According to Kovalenko, in 2013, the company resumed production of composite press material AG-4S and mastered the production of press material TSZ-1F, which allowed it to meet the needs of the rocket and space industry and conventional weapons industry.

Russian version of the attack

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that at night, air defense forces shot down 50 Ukrainian drones. In particular, 28 UAVs were allegedly destroyed over the territory of Bryansk region, 12 over Kursk region, 4 over Novgorod region, two drones over the territory of Smolensk and Tula regions, and one more over Oryol and Tver regions.

At the same time, local residents of the Tula region reported online that they had heard at least 11 explosions at night. The Russian Telegram channel Exilenova+ also reported on the work of air defense in the city of Aleksin.

They also suggest that the target of the air attack could have been the Aleksin Chemical Plant, located near the city.

The federal state enterprise Aleksin Chemical Plant produces polymers, gunpowder, ammunition, composite materials for the Russian military-industrial complex.

The social media users add that the drones could have attacked another local enterprise that is also involved in defense industry. It is the Aleksin Research Mechanical Plant.

Later, Tula Region Governor Dmitry Milyaev confirmed the drone attack on the region. According to him, as a result of the fall of the UAV debris, the glazing of a private house was damaged, and there were no injuries.

At the same time, the Tula governor did not mention a possible attack on the chemical plant.

  • The day before, the Russians claimed a drone attack on an oil refinery in Saratov, which resulted in a fire.
