Russia attacks Ukraine with Shaheds, guided bombs, causing casualties in Odesa
On November 9, Russia attacked Ukraine with drones and bombs, killing one and injuring 13 in Odesa, with damage reported in Kharkiv and Kirovohrad regions
The Air Force reported the threat of the Shaheds.
The first strike drones were spotted around 9:20 p.m. in the north of Sumy region, moving southward. At around 9:30 p.m., the Shaheds approached the Chernihiv region.
At around 10:30 p.m., Russian drones were spotted in Poltava region (heading for Kharkiv and southwest) and Sumy region (Chernihiv).
At 10:44 p.m., a UAV appeared from the south, in particular in the Kherson region, heading for Mykolaiv. And at 11:00 p.m., a group of Shaheds was spotted in the Kharkiv region.
As of 4:29 a.m., UAVs were spotted in the west and north of Poltava region (heading west) and in Chernihiv region (heading west).
By the morning of November 9, the Air Force reported that tactical aircraft had launched guided aerial bombs in the Sumy region. Meanwhile, drones in the north of the Chernihiv region are moving toward Chernihiv.
Consequences of the Russian attack on Odesa
At midnight, Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, said that the Russian aggressors were attacking Odesa and the region with attack drones, and that air defense forces were operating in the region.
According to the Odesa City Council, several high-rise buildings, private sector houses, administrative buildings, warehouses and cars in one of Odesa's districts were damaged by the Russian strike.
On the morning of November 9, it became known that one person was killed and 13 others were wounded, including two children - boys aged 4 and 16.
According to the head of the Regional Military Administration Kiper, 8 victims of the shelling were hospitalized, while others were treated on the spot. Psychologists of the State Emergency Service also provided assistance to 25 residents, including one child.
It is noted that a large-scale fire broke out in Avangard on the territory of one of the residential complexes due to the fall of a drone: about 15 cars caught fire and residential buildings were damaged. Five people were injured, including one child.
In Odesa, windows were smashed in three buildings of residential high-rises. A private house was destroyed as a result of a Russian attack, followed by a fire. An entire family was injured: the father and 16-year-old son are in moderate condition in the hospital, and the mother, unfortunately, died.
Attack on Kharkiv
“There was an explosion in Kharkiv. There may be repeated launches of KABs. Be careful,” Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov wrote at 2:53 a.m.
Later, Terekhov reported that a guided bomb hit the road surface at the intersection of two city districts. Damage to civilian infrastructure was also reported.
In the morning, the mayor clarified that the aircraft had hit one of the city's busiest highways that night. As a result, the road surface, trolleybus contact lines and street lighting network were damaged.
In addition, one out-of-service gas station was destroyed and another slightly damaged, several windows were smashed in a nearby hotel, and a construction hypermarket located at the intersection sustained minor damage.
UAV wreckage falls in Kirovohrad region
According to the head of the Kirovohrad Regional Military Administration, Andriy Raikovych, last night in one of the communities of Holovanivskyi district, the fragments of a downed drone damaged several windows in a private house.
