Ukraine reports 159 combat clashes on frontlines, repels 85 assaults near Pokrovsk

On January 27, 159 combat clashes took place on the Russian-Ukrainian frontline. Russian forces launched 85 attacks in the Pokrovsk direction

Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff shared the information in its report as of 8:00 a.m. 

“The situation at the front remains difficult. The Russian aggressor, using its superiority in manpower and equipment, is continuously attacking the Ukrainian positions. Ukrainian defenders are steadfastly holding back the occupiers' onslaught, inflicting significant losses on the enemy. In total, 159 combat clashes were recorded over the past day,” the statement reads.

According to the updated information, yesterday Russian troops carried out 28 air strikes on the Ukrainian positions and settlements, dropping 60 guided bombs. In addition, they launched over 5,000 attacks, including 87 times with multiple launch rocket systems, and used 2,411 kamikaze drones.

Russian airstrikes hit 2 settlements in Sumy region; 1 settlement in Dnipropetrovsk region; 1 settlement in Zaporizhzhia region.

Over the past day, missile troops and artillery of the Ukrainian Defense Forces hit 2 Russian troops' concentrations and 2 anti-aircraft missile systems.

Frontline update

In the Kharkiv direction, Russian forces tried to break through Ukrainian defenses near Vovchansk five times.

In the Kupyansk direction, six attacks took place yesterday. Ukrainian troops rebuffed the Russian assault near Pishchane, Kutkivka, Petropavlivka and Lozova.

In the Lyman direction, Russian troops attacked ten times. They tried to penetrate the Ukrainian defense near the settlements of Novoiehorivka, Kopanky, Makiivka, Terny, Zelena Dolyna, Yampolivka, Zarichne and Kolodiazi.

In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian troops successfully fought off one Russian attack near Bilohorivka.

In the Kramatorsk direction, Russian forces attacked seven times near Chasiv Yar, Stupochky, Predtechyno and Bila Hora.

In the Toretsk direction, Russian troops carried out 13 attacks near Toretsk, Krymske, Dyliivka and Shcherbynivka.

In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders stopped 85 Russian attacks towards the settlements of Vodiane Druhe, Zelene Pole, Yelyzavetivka, Myroliubivka, Sukhyi Yar, Zelene, Kotlyne, Udachne, Nadezhdinka, Kotliarivka, Uspenivka, Preobrazhenka, Bohdanivka, Baranivka, Promin, Pokrovsk, Novoandriivka, Shevchenko, Dachne, Ulakly and Yantarne.

In the Novopavlivka direction, Russian troops carried out eight attacks near Novosilka, Kostiantynopil, Rozdolne and Velyka Novosilka yesterday.

In the Orikhiv direction, the occupying Russian forces stormed Ukrainian positions twice near Novodanylivka and in the Orikhiv direction.

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are making efforts to prevent Russian troops from advancing deep into Ukrainian territory, successfully repelling three Russian offensives.

In the Huliaipole direction, the occupying Russian army did not conduct any active operations yesterday.

On the border with Belarus, no signs of Russian offensive groups were detected.

In the Kursk region, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue their operation. Yesterday, the Russian troops carried out 24 air strikes, dropping 30 guided bombs, and fired 302 times, including three times from multiple rocket launchers. Ukrainian defenders beat back 13 Russian troops’ assaults.

  • The occupying Russian army lost 1,380 servicemen in a day of war against Ukraine. Ukraine’s Defense Forces destroyed several Russian vehicles, including 5 Russian tanks.
