Russian forces continue attempts to establish themselves in the island zone at the mouth of the Dnipro River

Lieutenant Pavlo Drohal, spokesperson of the Kherson operational-tactical group, said this during a briefing.
“Russian troops continue their attempts to secure positions in the island zone at the mouth of the Dnipro River, carrying out artillery strikes on the positions of Ukraine’s Defense Forces and civilian infrastructure,” the statement says.
In total, between January 20 and January 26, the Russian army conducted 529 shellings and launched three airstrikes.
According to the spokesperson, 19 attempts at assault actions were recorded. All enemy offensive actions were repelled by Ukrainian defenders.
Russian losses amounted to 122 soldiers killed and wounded, as well as 51 units of weaponry and military equipment destroyed.
- Ukrainian forces have withdrawn from the southern part of Velyka Novosilka in the Donetsk region to avoid encirclement, according to the spokesperson of the Khortytsia Operational Strategic Group, Viktor Trehubov.
