Putin's latest offer is extremely generous: foreign fakes for June 17
The Center for Countering Disinformation has published a selection of anti-Ukrainian fakes and manipulations that were published by the world media on June 17
This is reported by Espreso.TV.
According to the Center for Countering Disinformation, disinformation and manipulation were spread worldwide on June 17.
Disinformation: Irish journalist Chay Bowes wrote on his X page: "Ukraine is not a member of NATO, but NATO is directly fighting Ukraine's war against Russia, attacking Russia and Russians because Kyiv lacks the capability to do so."
Rebuttal: This is part of the Russian propaganda narrative that "Ukraine is a NATO puppet" and that the Alliance is allegedly waging a war against Russia using Ukrainians. The purpose of this narrative is to portray Western military assistance to Ukraine as an aggressive move against Russia, while in reality the Ukrainian Armed Forces use these weapons to defend Ukrainian territories.
Manipulation: Brazilian journalist Pepe Escobar wrote on his X page: "Russia's latest offer (Putin's conditions for negotiations - ed.). Extremely generous. Already rejected. The next offer will be direct: unconditional surrender."
Rebuttal: The "Russian offer" the journalist writes about was essentially a call for Ukraine's unconditional surrender. By issuing an ultimatum for peace talks with Ukraine, Putin actually showed that Moscow is not really interested in negotiations, but rather wants to continue the war.
- On June 15, the Centre for Countering Disinformation refuted Russian fakes and manipulations about Ukrainian grain exports.
